History of RGR Collections

Over the years, RetroGaming Radio has sold “yearly” DVD collections – a total of eight of them exist and each one is packed with uncut interviews, tons of bonus features and lots of extras that die hard fans of the show wanted.

The problem was, of course, that at some point? There was more content than DVD releases; tons more shows, lots more bonus material and none of it was available to buy and keep by the fans. As a proponent of physical media – and true ownership, it always bothered me that it was impossible to own the entire “RetroGaming Radio Legacy”, physically.

The time has come to erase that mistake. I present to you – The RetroGaming Radio Definitive Collection.

What is the Definitive Collection?

Everything. That’s right, everything. Every show, every extra, every bonus — I’ve dug through every collection, ever backup and archive CD I have containing any and all show material. I’ve replaced lower quality copies of shows and interviews (those that were broadcast) with the best copies I could find. Nothing was left out. This really is everything.

How is it being provided?

We all love physical media – because we can hold it, use it the way we like, back it up and no one can take it away from us because they decide to flip a bit in a database.

Since disc-based media holds less and requires “special hardware” these days, we’re going to move to the next best thing: a 64GB USB flash drive.

Every flash drive will be hand signed by me and contain the complete collection of RetroGaming Radio goodness.

Is there a list of what is in the collection?

Here is a partial list of the contents of the flash drive (subject to change without notice):

  • Every RetroGaming Radio show made – from 1998 to 2013.
    • 125 Released Episodes
    • 37 Remastered Episodes at 128kbps or Higher (the originals are here too)
    • A Bonus Unreleased Show
  • Every single interview (70 total), uncut, in the highest quality possible
  • Every “extra”; including pictures, bloopers, unused audio files (mic checks, rejected intros) that I could find
  • The original experimental video editions of the shows (Real Player, QuickTime and ASF versions)
  • Several never before used or released game mini-reviews with Shane and Bryan “Kidhype” Smith
  • Never seen before AI HD upscaled video clips from CGE, Interviews and TV spots (Like Tech TV and G4)
  • Years 1-8 disc images and HQ covers. Add/finish/start your “DVD Editions” collections by burning and packaging your own copies.
  • An all new nearly one hour retrospective 4k video by Shane R. Monroe, discussing the legacy of RGR
